Ruby & Roslyn at Wild River Country recently. Now these two darling little faces are worth coming home to!
Tonite, I will be finalizing the project (for all practical purposes) with a community town hall meeting entitled "End Sexual Assaults in Our Community NOW! Shining the Light on Sexual Assault" We anticipate a healthy crowd. The buzz has been out for quite some time, Attorney Moore did a radio interview last week talking about the event and explaining the "Crisis" mode that several parts of the Belizean community is in as it relates to sexual assaults and encouraging community leaders and lay people to speak up and get involved. Yesterday, I, Mr. Dozie Ifeanyicheneke and Ms. Ifasina Efunyemi appeared on national t.v. on the Love F.M. Morning Show to promote tonite's event. Dozie & Ifa were especially convincing as it related to the need for "Men" to stand up and protect their communities from sexual violence perpetrators and Ifa explained how the church and schools must be more proactive in talking about these issues as to arm youth with the knowledge of inappropriate physical contact.
Tomorrow, I will go to Belmopan with Attorney Moore to a Human Rights Commission of Belize committee meeting and will return to Hopkins and spend the evening with Ms. Moore and her family in celebrating "Hopkins Day". Big celebration, lots of food...etc. I was hoping to go snorkeling before my return. We'll see! There's still Sunday and Monday left! My next post will include photos from tonite's meeting and more...........
Have a great weekend everyone!
